There is a lot of talk these days about Global Warming and other environmental problems, many years ago Almond wrote a song called Ozone Layer

In 1990 he started a small wood on a 5 acre plot in Scotland, 2600 trees, of many varieties. There are some recordings which were made when the trees were being planted an a short video clips of the ground and the pond which he made.

In 2008 the trees have grown and the pond looks natural.


Simon Jaycina was the man who helped organise the whole thing, Willy ploughed the ground, Robert Scoone and Margaret Wall, helped with the planting, along with some of the pupils from the local Grammar School. You can hear sound recordings which were made in 1990 concerning the planting.

There are also some video clips of the area and the digging and ploughing.

The forth track on this player is a live recording made in Germany, during a children's show, there is a story and the Ozone Layer Song. The introduction to the song was all about ozone depletion and it's effect on the ski industry.

 

Since 2001 Almond has cared for another small forest
